270 Shops Burnt down In Jos Terminus Market Fire, Millions of Naira Lost!!!!

Report reaching us is Properties worth millions of naira, were on Saturday morning, destroyed in Jos Terminus Market, Plateau State, as traders wept, counting their losses.

The Chairman of the traders association in Plateau, Mr. Abdulrahman Yusuf, told journalists in Jos that over 270 shops with properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.
“We have one trader in this market that lost goods worth over N20m. It’s a huge loss and it’s quite devastating,” he lamented.

Yusuf called on government to come to the aid of the traders, so they could bounce back.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the market, which was razed by fire in 2001, had since been repopulated by petty traders with makeshift shops.

The spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, Matthias Tyopev, in an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, said, “There was a fire incident at the popular main market in Jos. Goods and warehouses were destroyed. The Plateau State Commissioner of Police (Undie Adie), and chairman of the Jos North Local Government Area were there to ascertain the level of damage.

“We can’t estimate the total amount lost because so many people were involved; the loss is unquantifiable because the fire was severe.”

Tyopev, in a statement, later noted that the Commissioner of Police had ordered the deployment of policemen in the market.

He said, “At about 1.22am, there was a fire incident at Jos Terminus Market. The commissioner of police in Plateau led detectives to the scene at about O745hrs. He instructed that security be beefed up around the market so that some people would not take undue advantage of the unfortunate situation.

“The cause of the fire is still unclear but shall be made public as soon as the fire service carries out the assessment. Before his arrival, the police personnel of Angwan Rogo, ‘C’, ‘A’ and Nasarawa Gwong Divisions were already on the ground.”

Governor Simon Lalong offered his condolences to the victims of the inferno.
The governor, in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Yakubu Dati, described the incident as unfortunate, coming at a time when the state was on the path to recovery from recent challenges.

Recall that in 2016, after Drake’s “One Dance,” featuring WizKid and Kyla topped the billboard chart for over 10 weeks, Wizkid and Drake collaborated in bringing out ‘Come closer’

A rumoured beef was quickly making rounds at that time after Wizkid was nowhere to be found on the video of Drake’s ‘One Dance’ and vice versa for ‘Come Closer.

However, Wizkid’s recent link up with the Canadian rappers, shows there’s no bad blood between both of them.

Drake’s rankings are as follows: “Nice for What” at No. 1; “Nonstop” at No. 2; “God’s Plan” at No. 4; “In My Feelings” at No. 6; “I’m Upset” at No. 7; “Emotionless” at No. 8; and “Don’t Matter to Me,” featuring Michael Jackson, at No. 9.
